Listing rules
Every listing is reviewed against these rules before it goes live.
Only gear you own or may sell
No stolen gear. List only equipment you own or are authorised to sell or rent out. We remove listings that match a theft report and may share details with the police.
Describe it honestly
State the real condition, known issues, service history and anything missing. Use your own recent photos of the actual item, wear included. No stock photos.
No fees, no payments on the platform
Back to One charges no fees for listing in this version, and no money moves through the site: paid cover weeks run in practice mode until payments open. Never ask a buyer to pay through a link in a message, and never send card or bank details in a message.
Identity check to list gear
To list gear your business profile needs a verified identity, checked once. It is needed for a new listing, for approving a listing our team wrote for you, and for editing or relisting. Browsing, voting, joining the early access list, messages, offers and rental requests never need it.
The check is done by an identity checking service: you photograph a government ID and take a selfie on its page. We keep only the result, the service, its reference and the date, never your document or your photo. Verified profiles show Identity verified. It means we checked who is behind the account; it is not a check of the gear.
Featured on the cover
Sellers can book the homepage cover for one live listing, by the week, or for one free day with an early access code. Every booked placement is marked Featured, so visitors know it is a placement and not our pick.
- Only a live, approved listing under your company name, with a real photo of the gear, can be featured. Never an anonymous listing.
- We approve every booking, paid or free, and may decline or cancel one that breaks these rules. Two bookings never share a day.
- One early access code per business, ever. We compare company names, phone numbers, websites and payout details to spot one business claiming twice, and a person reviews every free day.
- The weekly price is shown before you book. While payments are in practice mode, no money moves.
Same rules for every seller
Every seller lists under the same rules and fees.
Anonymous listings
Rentals always show your company, so renters know who they are hiring from: anonymity is for sale listings only. On a sale listing you may list under a handle instead of your company. Do not use anonymity to mislead: the gear, its condition and its location must be described truthfully. Remove logos, asset tags and serial plates from photos if you want to stay anonymous. We know who every seller is.
Not allowed
- Real firearms, frames and receivers, and any gun that can fire a projectile or a blank, including blank-firing and converted prop guns.
- Ammunition of any kind: live rounds, blanks, dummy rounds sold as ammunition, primers and powder.
- Explosives and pyrotechnics: squibs, flash pots, black powder, detonators, fireworks and any other pyrotechnic material. These are licensed and handled only by licensed operators.
- Controlled substances, prescription drugs and medicines, including in set medic kits.
- Drones without the paperwork your country requires. Recalled or unsafe gear. Counterfeits and replicas sold as genuine. Software licences and accounts. Anything illegal to sell where you or the buyer are.
Titles that name a prohibited item are refused when you submit, and every listing is checked again by a person before it goes live.
Prop and replica weapons
Allowed only in the Prop and replica weapons category, and only when the item is rubber, foam, resin or a non-firing replica that cannot be converted to fire, or a blunt prop blade. You confirm this with a tick box on every listing; a listing without it cannot be submitted.
Describe the markings, such as an orange tip, and show them in the photos. Replica and look-alike gun rules differ by country, state and city: some places require markings, restrict shipping, or ban the sale of realistic replicas outside film and TV work. Check the law where you and the buyer are before you list or ship. Back to One may ask for more detail or remove any listing it is unsure about.
Vehicles and trailers
Every vehicle and trailer listing (honeywagons, talent and department trailers, trucks, camera cars, vans, water trucks, catering trucks and picture vehicles) states its title status: clean, rebuilt, has a lien, or no title. A listing without one cannot be submitted. State any lien and who holds the title, and be ready to show the title to a serious buyer.
Harnesses, rigging and lifts
Stunt harnesses, descenders and wire rigs, effects rigging, scaffolding and lifts must state the date of their last inspection, and a listing without one cannot be submitted. Fall protection in Safety gear should state it too. Say who inspected it and include the paperwork if you have it. Life-safety gear should be inspected again by a competent person before it is used.
Reporting a listing or a person
Every live listing has a Report this listing link. Pick a reason (stolen gear, wrong item or condition, scam or payment request off-platform, prohibited item, duplicate, or other) and add a note. You can report without an account by leaving your email. One report per person per listing.
In a conversation you can report the other person for harassment, a scam or spam, and you can block them. A blocked person cannot message you or make offers, and is not told they were blocked.
The seller is never told who reported a listing. Only the Back to One team sees reports.
What happens after a report
A person on the Back to One team reviews every report. When 3 different signed-in people with a confirmed email report the same listing, we hide it automatically until we have checked it.
We may dismiss the report and put the listing back, take the listing down, warn the account, or suspend it. Messages that ask for payment by wire, gift card, crypto or a payment app, or that try to move the deal off Back to One, are flagged to the team for a closer look.
Takedowns and appeals
If we take a listing down, we email the seller a reason code and how to appeal. To appeal, reply to hello@backtoonegear.com with the listing reference and anything that shows the listing follows these rules, such as a receipt, serial numbers or recent photos. A person reviews every appeal.
If a listing uses your photos, shows your stolen gear or breaks these rules, report it or write to hello@backtoonegear.com with the listing link and what is wrong.
Warnings and suspensions
We may warn an account that breaks these rules. Repeated or serious problems lead to a suspension: a suspended account cannot log in or list, and its listings are hidden until the suspension is lifted. To appeal a suspension, write to hello@backtoonegear.com.
