Your name, email and a scrambled form of your password (we never store the password itself). Sellers also give a company, city, region, country and phone number. We keep your listings, photos, messages and saved searches, and basic security records such as sign-in times and IP addresses used for rate limits.

When you upload a photo we remove its hidden data, including GPS location, camera serial numbers and owner names. What is visible in the picture stays, so remove logos, asset tags and plates yourself if you list anonymously.

Buyers see a listing, its photos, the city (unless you hide it) and your company, or only a handle if you list anonymously. Your email and phone are never shown on listings. People in a message thread see that thread. Our admins see everything, to review listings and keep the site safe.

To run your account, show listings, deliver messages, send account emails (confirm your email, reset your password), review listings and stop abuse. We do not sell your data. The only paid placements are listings sellers book for the homepage cover, and they are always marked Featured.

Before you list gear we check your identity once, through an identity checking service (for example Stripe Identity or Didit). You photograph a government ID and take a selfie on that service's own page, under its own privacy policy. We receive and keep only the result: verified or not, which service checked, its reference number and the date. We never receive or store your document or your photo. Our team can also mark a profile verified by hand. While the check runs in practice mode nothing is uploaded at all.

Browsing, voting, joining the early access list, messages, offers and rental requests never need the check.

When you confirm an early access sign-up we email you a personal code. We keep a scrambled form of the code, not the code itself. When a business uses a code, we compare its company name, phone number, website and payout details with businesses that already used one, and note a scrambled form of the network address and the device cookie, to spot one business claiming twice. This never blocks anyone on its own: a person reviews every free day.

One cookie keeps you signed in. If you vote on our opinion page, one cookie remembers your vote on that device. If you came through a link in one of our emails, one cookie holds that link's code (see below). After you confirm early access, a cookie shows your early access code once, for ten minutes. We use no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics.

Links in the emails we send carry a code, so the site can show you relevant gear first (for example cranes and remote heads if you work with cranes) and so we can count which pages were viewed after you clicked. We tie this only to the code in your link, never to visitors who did not come from our email, and we do not fingerprint your browser.

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we count nothing. If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK, we keep only totals (how many pages, not which ones or when) unless you later sign up yourself.

To opt out, use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or reply and ask us to stop. After that we stop showing personalised pages and stop counting. You can also clear the cookie in your browser, or choose Show everything on the homepage.

While your account is open. Ask us to close it and we delete your account data, except what we must keep for legal reasons or to deal with a complaint.
